1. Harris Medical Center Project
The Eureka City Council will be discussing and potentially approving a project for the Harris Medical Center. The project involves changing the land use and zoning designations to allow for the development of a medical center with various facilities. The council will need to adopt resolutions for these changes and consider the fiscal impact and community goals. Public input and environmental impact assessments have been taken into account, and if approved, the project will move on to the next steps for implementation. The council will hold a public hearing to discuss and make decisions on the project.

Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Eureka, a proposal was put forth to transform a vacant church site into the prestigious Harris Medical Center. The city council was abuzz with excitement as they reviewed the detailed agenda presented by Deputy Development Services Director, Caitlin Castellano.
The proposed project, spearheaded by Dr. Deepak Stokes, aimed to revitalize the derelict church building into an urgent care facility, rural healthcare clinic, medical spa, and office space. Additionally, plans included constructing new residential structures and a café on the site, all under the umbrella of the Neighborhood Commercial zoning designation.
As the council delved into the finer details of the proposal, they were impressed by the attention to detail and the potential benefits the Harris Medical Center would bring to the community. The project aligned with the city’s goals of economic development and addressing vacancy issues, while also enhancing the tax base and providing varied housing choices.
After a thorough discussion, the council unanimously agreed to move forward with the project. They approved the Mitigated Negative Declaration, Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program, General Plan Amendment, and introduced an ordinance for the Zone Reclassification.
The residents of Eureka were eager to see the transformation of the vacant church site into a bustling medical center and new residential units. The prospect of having quality healthcare services and a vibrant commercial space in their neighborhood brought a sense of excitement and anticipation.
As construction began on the Harris Medical Center, the city buzzed with activity. The sound of hammers and drills filled the air, signaling the start of a new chapter for the once neglected site. The community came together to support the project, eager to see the positive impact it would have on their beloved city.
Months passed, and the Harris Medical Center began to take shape, rising like a phoenix from the ashes of the old church building. The grand opening was a festive affair, with city officials, residents, and members of the medical community coming together to celebrate this milestone.
The Harris Medical Center stood as a beacon of hope and progress in Eureka, a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration and vision. It served as a reminder that with determination and foresight, even the most neglected spaces can be transformed into vibrant hubs of activity and growth.
And so, the Harris Medical Center became a shining example of the city’s commitment to embracing change and fostering a community that values innovation and progress. It was a symbol of Eureka’s resilience and determination to create a better future for all who called it home.

4. City Council Policy and Procedures
The Eureka City Council is being asked to adopt a revised Workplace Injury & Vehicle Accident Reporting Policy. This policy is important for employees involved in accidents or injuries while on the job. The policy was last reviewed in 2003, and staff recommend updating it to ensure it aligns with current procedures and forms. There is no additional cost associated with this update.

Good morning, beloved congregation. Today, I come to you with an important message about the City Council Policy and Procedures. As followers of Christ, we are called to live by a higher standard of ethics and values, and this includes how we conduct ourselves in our workplaces and communities.
The City Council Policy and Procedures Manual is a set of guidelines that help ensure that city employees are safe, protected, and treated with respect. This includes policies related to workplace injuries and vehicle accidents. As the city council seeks to adopt a revised Workplace Injury & Vehicle Accident Reporting Policy, it is important for us as a community to support this effort.
We must remember that our actions have consequences, and it is our responsibility to report any injuries or accidents in a timely and accurate manner. By following these policies, we are not only protecting ourselves but also our coworkers and the community at large.
It is important for us to review and revise our policies regularly to ensure that they are up to date with current laws and best practices. As Christians, we are called to be good stewards of the resources and responsibilities entrusted to us, and this includes following workplace policies and procedures.
I urge each and every one of you to take these policies seriously and to always act with integrity and accountability in all areas of your life. Let us support the city council in adopting this revised policy and commit to upholding it in our own workplace and community activities.
May God bless us all as we strive to live out our faith in every aspect of our lives. Amen.
