(AUDIO) Steel Pulse’s David Hinds on KWPT

As the passionate frontman of Steel Pulse—widely considered Britain’s greatest reggae band—David Hinds has spent the past 50 years bringing powerful, socially conscious roots reggae to audiences around the world. That journey continues on Tuesday night, when Hinds and the band return to Southern Humboldt for a show at the Mateel Community Center.

Ahead of his performance, Hinds joined DJ Irie Adina for a conversation on KWPT’s Rocksteady in the Redwoods. In the interview above, he looks back on five decades with Steel Pulse, talks about touring with Bob Marley, reveals who he’d want to direct a Steel Pulse biopic, and shares what’s on his current playlist. Hit play to listen, and scroll your Lowdown below for all the details on the upcoming Redway show.
