How Good Is Your Band at Bumbling Its Way Through Creedence Songs?

It’s a pretty typical Monday in HumCo. So we’ll use the Lowdown space to put the call out to local bands who wouldn’t mind some quick, easy glory.

KWPT The Point is again gearing up to hold their annual Classic Cover Contest, a grueling, multiround, onair competition giving bands the opportunity at prizes and local fame for paying homage to the most celebrated rock ‘n’ roll of all time.

How simple is this? Check your chord box. Is there a D in there? How ‘bout a G and an A? Yes? OK, here’s what you’re gonna do. You’ve got all the tools for at least a passable version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising.” So get your band together, have the most talented person in the room figure out Fogerty’s solo, fire up Garage Band on your laptop and make history.

We’ve still got plenty of time between now and the start of the competition — mid-September — but you’ll want to get those tracks in early. It’s rumored the winner will headline a high profile gig. Send in your submissions to studio@kwpt.com or call DJ Carole Ann at 786-5104. Note that you can send in multiple songs for consideration — they’re trying to fill up a 32 song bracket.
