Speaking Of Film Premieres …

At this weekend’s Humboldt Made Film Premiere, Humboldt proved that, given the opportunity, it will comb its hair and button the top button. So while the small town glitz is still fresh in your brain, let the Lowdown clue you in to another impending premiere — this one an actual movie movie.

Two years after it was shot partially in Barcelona, Spain and partially here locally in Eureka, director and Humboldt County native Maria Matteoli will finally, officially, premiere her film The Wine of Summer on Sept. 20 at a shmancy film festival in Portugal. This likely will not impact your life, but it’s nice to know. Congrats to Maria and stuff.

More importantly for your Humboldt-dwelling eyeballs, Matteoli will screen a special Wine directors cut at the Eureka Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 19, which is good because it requires you to cross zero oceans. Watch the trailer below if you haven’t already, read a cover story yours truly did for the North Coast Journal about Maria and the film here and also buy tickets for the Humboldt premiere if you’re into that sort of thing. (You should be. They’re great.)
