“Duh, Do I Have To Pay To Get Into Oyster Fest on Saturday?”
Yes, there will be sea of joyous O faces on the Arcata Plaza come Saturday. We are less than a week out from the slightly revamped Arcata Bay Oyster Festival — arguably Humboldt’s most popular annual event — and the question everyone is asking (despite the fact that the answer has been available for months) is, of course, “Does it cost moolah to get in this year?”
The answer is “no.”
Now, as the map we’ve included illustrates, there will be some slight fencing, though festival organizer Debi Farber Bush promises “no barbed wire” like last year. The fence will separate the event from bar row and attendees will be required to enter from the southern portion of the Plaza. Yes, you’ll need beer tokens and an “I am 21” bracelet, like in years past. (For more on this year’s festival reboot, Kevin Hoover over at the Mad River Union went in-depth a few months back.)
DFB was down at LoCOHQ this morning spreading oyster cheer. We decided her excitement was palpable enough that we needed to capture it on video via our cracked iPhone below. Allow her to explode her passion at you below.
