LIVE on KHUM: Geez, Clean Girl and the Dirty Dishes are Sure Overdoing It This Week
Few Humboldt musicians can claim they’ve put as much late night effort into keeping our rural rock ’n’ roll scene alive as Courtney Jaxon and Gary Silver, the wife/husband duo known to Old Town bar crawlers as Clean Girl & the Dirty Dishes. The pair have contributed their individual talents to legendary local groups of yesteryear Automatic Pink and Trash and Roll, respectively, and also The Monster Women, collectively. Additionally, by day they spread merriment as the owners of Little Shop of Hers and Seamoor’s. Eureka is unquestionably made more vibrant by their mere existence. Aww.
Why are we gushing over this wonderful duo? Well, earlier this week they stopped into the brand new Old Town KHUM studio — take note, local bands! — to play a few songs and have a radio chat with DJ Mary Jane in advance of their ridiculously busy week, which includes:
- Wednesday: CGDD will join Komboujia’s Vegan Slaughterhouse at The Siren’s Song Tavern in providing support for The Sex Organs — a pair of primitive European rockers who dress up like monsterish alien genitals. (Don’t believe me?)
- Thursday: The pair return to Siren’s Song to continue being supportive, this time for Hey Eleanor, Alice Sandahl (of La Luz) and headliner The Intelligence, a yacht punk duo out of LA.

Before you hit up either of those shows, consider tuning into CGDD’s KHUM appearance, above, and/or scroll your Lowdown below for other local human gatherings. Stay clean.
