… or, as a fantasy story!

In the County of Humboldt, nestled in the McKinleyville area, a mysterious project was on the agenda for the Planning Commission’s meeting on 9/3/2026. The file number, 26-930, labeled it as the New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC (AT&T Mobility) Conditional Use Permit, Coastal Development Permit, and Special Permit. It seemed like a mundane request at first glance, asking for permission to erect an 89-foot tall, unmanned wireless telecommunications facility disguised as an evergreen tree.

But little did the residents of Humboldt County know, there was more to this project than met the eye. The project site at 3386 Lily Avenue was chosen strategically by AT&T to maintain coverage along Highway 101 and the surrounding areas. The existing cellular site was on the verge of decommissioning, and the search for a replacement led them to this location.

As the Planning Commission delved deeper into the details of the project, they uncovered a hidden agenda. The proposed tower was not just a means to improve cell service; it was a cloak for something more sinister. The 30kW generator and equipment shelter hinted at a power source beyond ordinary technology. Rumors began to circulate among the residents of McKinleyville, of strange lights and sounds coming from the construction site at night.

Unbeknownst to the Planning Commission, the tower was a gateway to another realm, a portal for otherworldly beings to enter the sleepy town of McKinleyville. The faux branches on the tower’s “trunk” served as a camouflage, disguising the true purpose of the structure. The 12 AT&T antennas were not for better cell service; they were conduits for magical energies to flow into the human world.

As the tower neared completion, strange occurrences started to plague McKinleyville. Unexplained phenomena, sightings of ethereal beings, and disturbances in the fabric of reality itself. The residents were caught in the middle of a battle between forces they could not comprehend, all tied to the mysterious wireless tower looming over their town.

Will the Planning Commission realize the true nature of the project before it’s too late? Will the residents of McKinleyville be able to withstand the supernatural forces converging upon their town? Only time will tell in this tale of fantasy and intrigue unfolding in the County of Humboldt.
