Lowdown: Plan Your Un-Monday

Thankfully, Monday has already been music-full here in LoCO land. But if you want to keep the melodiousness going, you’re gonna want to head to A-town tonight, kids:

  • Tonight over at Jambalaya they’re holding the Humboldt Music Showcase, a holiday-ish benefit for Toys For Tots featuring local bands Farmhouse Odyssey, Liquid Kactus, Naive Melodies and The Getdown house band to name a few. Be aware: You can waltz right in sans cover if you bring an unwrapped toy.
  • Get a history lesson in multiple American music traditions at the Arcata Playhouse courtesy of multi-instrumentalist Dirk Powell. A promoter of traditional Appalachian musical styles, Powell will be joined by fiddler/accordionist Cedric Watson. Get a taste of the duo via the YouTubage provided below.
