Wednesday Lowdown: Help Eureka Be Less Ugly, Then You Can Party

Let’s start Wednesday’s Lowdown by urging all aesthetically adventurous Eurekans to attend a boring-but-important meeting at the Wharfinger Building at 5:30 p.m. The topic? How to artistically enhance Eureka’s south entrance to make it more appealing to travelers and locals alike. Don’t shirk this. Q: Do you seriously trust a combination of government workers and the people who usually attend these kinds of meetings to agree on a vision that is anything but ghastly? A: No you do not. Thus, please bring your mental crayon box and squash all visual versions of “You Found It!” that dare pop up. Thanks. 

As far as musical distractions, your best bet is to let the fingers of Marco Benevento rapidly fire notes at your eardrums. The accomplished keyboardist combines his penchant for complex composition with alt-pop sensibilities on stage at HumBrews Wednesday. Get an idea of which aural paintbrushes he might pack to Arcata in the clip below.
