Friday Lowdown: Soul Night, Charity Events and That Damn Ol’ Circus

In case you missed our earlier event “highlight,” your Lowdown will again mention that the circus is in town, for better or worse. Culpepper and Merriweather humans and animals perform for the second of a two day stint in Benbow this afternoon before moving on to Redwood Acres Fairgrounds tomorrow and Rio Dell on Sunday. Protests are planned for those last two dates. You can read more about the motivation behind them here.

As far as the rest of your Humboldt Friday, Soul Night returns tonight with a professional wrestling theme. Do you smell what Missing Link’s cabal of DJs are cooking? Grapple with them at HumBrews.

There’s also a pair of higher profile charity events: First, local advocate-for-the-homeless Betty Chinn will share her story at St. Bernard’s High School during a fundraiser for the Betty Kwan Chinn Day Center. Also, at-risk youth equine therapy non-profit Wild Souls Ranch holds their Silver Spurs Gala at the Fortuna River Lodge (Pastor Bethany recently profiled the organization on LoCO here).

Lots more in your Lowdown listings below. -AG
