Donate Kibble to Starving Mongrels While Rockin’ Out to “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Probably
Studies show that, much like humans, animals are happier and healthier when they consume nourishment. This “food,” they say, is essential to their very existence. Please file this information away.
Now get sad. Why? Because some animals have no food — mostly cats and dogs, animals past humans chose to domesticate that are often abandoned or bred irresponsibly. This is what is known as a problem.
Who will think of the mongrels?!? Oh! This sounds like a job for Humboldt’s most rockingest local radio station KWPT The Point, 100.3/102.7. This week, as part of the Food for Fido and Felix Drive, Point DJs will be broadcasting live from local feed stores whilst collecting food donations to then be distributed to local do-goody animal organizations like Miranda’s Rescue, the Humboldt County Animal Shelter and the Humboldt Animal Rescue Team.
Hey! “Broadcasting live” means that you have the opportunity to put faces to the voices in your car. Thus, if you would like to get some face time with these radio personalities — they LOVE that — here’s where they are scheduled to appear:
- Monday: Nilsen’s Feed in Arcata, from noon-5 p.m.
- Tuesday: Main Street Feed in Fortuna, from noon-6 p.m.
- Wednesday: The Farm Store in Eureka, from 12-6 p.m.
- Thursday: Fortuna Feed, from 12-6 p.m.
- Friday: Humboldt Pet Supply on South G St. in Arcata, from 12-6 p.m.
Bring by your Purina stash! How many times will this week will Point disc-spinners be unable to resist blaring Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog”? Tune in ready to bang your head and find out!
