SATURDAY LOWDOWN: It is Once Again Time to Remember How Much You Love Rhododendrons

For 53 years Eureka has loved the brightly colored shrubs in their front yards enough to throw a parade in their honor. Saturday it happens again with the return of the Rhododendron Parade which will snake its way through the city starting at 10 a.m. (Details can be yours in the Lowdown listings farther down.)

After night falls there’s quite a bit of musicality to be found around HumCo. A sampling (with video references, below):

  • ‘90s electronica hitmaker The Crystal Method — you totally remember the song featured in the clip on the left — will bring big beats to the Mateel Community Center.
  • Portland-based Americana band Casey Neill and the Norway Rats provide additional evidence of The Eagle House‘s continuing rise.
  • Roots rock duo Hillstomp again peddle fun and energy from the HumBrews stage.

Specifics on those shows and many other Saturday gatherings are just a scroll away.
