SUNDAY LOWDOWN: #MeToo Founder at HSU

Long before Hollywood would popularize the sentiment, New York-born civil rights activist Tarana Burke employed the phrase “Me Too” — as early as 2006 — to encourage awareness of the pervasiveness of sexual abuse in society. These days Burke is the senior director of the Girls for Gender Equity nonprofit in Brooklyn. She shares her passion Sunday in HSU’s Kate Buchanan Room.
