Saturday, April 20
Yes, it is 4/20. Do we really need to talk about that? No? Good. Moving on …
As your Lost Coast Outpost pointed out last week, some folk have difficulty telling the difference between what is nature and a what is garbage dump. (Pro tip: use your eyeballs/brain/nose to assist in making the distinction.)
Luckily, the world, and more specifically Humboldt, is blessed with super souls willing to step up and help our more confused citizens still have a nice place to throw a frisbee if they so choose. And you can help! Many of Humboldt’s environmental organizations are holding event’s and would dig your aid. Here’s your working list:
- Mad River: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; meet at Stardoughs.
- Klamath River: 9 a.m.; meet at Yurok Main Office.
- North Jetty: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; meet at North Jetty Parking Lot.
- Sequoia Park: Noon-2 p.m.; pull ivy out of the park
- Manila Beach: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; meet at Manila Community Center.
- Ma-le’l Dunes: 9 a.m.; Friends of the Dunes; meet at Young Lane lot.
- Palco Marsh: - Noon-2 p.m.; meet at the end of Del Norte Street.
- Samoa Beach: 1-3 p.m.
And after you beautify the planet reward yourself with the Earth Day Hoedown at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center.
Yeehaw, Earth. Yeehaw indeed.
