I Block’s the Party That Rocks The Party

And with that summer 2013 is over. What a time we had, Humboldt.

To ease the pain, the Lowdown is gonna go ahead and give you Monday off — what’s up? — and we’ll let you know that Arcata’s Labor Day tradition, the I Block Party is back to color the end of your season. Now in its 28th year, the event centered in front of Los Bagels on, where else, I Street will feature music all day from the likes of Lyndsey Battle, Steel Standing, Lizzy and the Moonbeams and The Hip Joint. Oh, and barbecue. And beer. 

As is the case every year, the event is a fundraiser for Arcata’s sister city Camoapa, Nicaragua — which is depicted in the Duane Flatmo mural that can be seen in the Los Bagels parking lot.
