Thursday’s Lowdown: Steel Standing, Mad River Rose, Ocean Night
Three examples of Humboldters producing fine community on display Thursday:
- Steel Standing, local pan steel-playing purveyors of Afro-Brazillian and Afro-Cuban styles, have managed to record their second album, Fine Line. Interested ass-shakers who gain entry to the Arcata Playhouse tonight will get their hands on a copy.
- The Blue Lake-boosting belles of Mad River Rose bravely head out to the coast to fill the The Palm Lounge with beautiful harmonies.
- Humboldt’s most salty will pack the Arcata Theatre Lounge for the monthly Ocean Night. This edition they’re screening big wave surf flick Step Into Liquid (2003). Step into the film’s trailer below. UPDATE: Due to miscommunication between ATL and Ocean Night organizers, Ocean Night will be on Friday instead.
