Eureka’s Debut Crab Crawl Festival Will Brave the Wet
Water, water everywhere. Humboldt is seeing a portion of NOAA’s prediction of weekend sky buckets come to pass in the form of this morning’s countywide weather-caused malfunctions.
But what of the inaugural Crab Crawl Festival? Eureka’s February attempt to seduce that hungry seafood festival crowd is scheduled for today and tomorrow. Will the rain ruin Humboldt’s crustacean destination?
LoCO grabbed its jacket and walked down to the C Street Market Square this afternoon where tents are being erected to house the upcoming festivities. Festival organizer Klark Swan told us all systems are go.
“No one’s backed out. No one’s got scared,” Swan said. The only weather-related change was a slight reduction in children’s activities — like, there will only be four booths instead of five so they can all fit under the tents allotted. Also, they won’t have to wet the ground for the crab races ‘cuz the globe is already naturally moistened.
So, the Crab Fest is on, rain or (through overcast clouds) shine. Of course, your Lowdown also reveals other scheduled human clusters, including the return of the indoor Inked Hearts Tattoo Expo. Scroll below, yo.
