Tuesday Lowdown: Where Can You See a Man Percussively Clog Dance on a Pallet Tonight?
We’ll start off today’s Lowdown with a reminder that there will be a candlelight vigil in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse this evening for the woman shot last week in Fortuna, as well as other victims of domestic violence. More on that here.
As far as this evening’s out-and-about options:
- Outdoor enthusiasts may want to head indoors for a change. The Arcata Theatre Lounge is hosting the REEL Paddling International Film Festival, featuring environmentally themed docs and images of humans exerting energy in pretty, remote places. You will “Ooo”.
- The Missing Link Records/Dead Reckoning Tavern crew are hosting an evening of haunting roots music courtesy of sometimes Pine Hill Haints lead singer James the Fang.
- How is the bluegrass band playing at HumBrews tonight different than other stringbands that roll through town? Well, Minneapolis’ own Pert’ Near Sandstone employs a folk clogger who provides rhythm by dancing on a wood pallet adjacent the band. Sample his feet in the clip below then maybe try to keep up with him tonight.
