Arcata’s Saturday Forecast: Parking Lot Snow

UPDATE: More photos (and video) here.

# # #

If you can believe it, Arcata is going to be a little bit whiter this fine Saturday. As LoCO types, a parking lot-sized winter sports lover’s wonderland — complete with ramps, rails and boxes — is being constructed adjacent Pacific Outfitters at the corner of G and Seventh streets courtesy the Humboldt State SnowJacks Ski and Snowboarding Club for their Rail Jam competition.

Should you feel the need to shred, from noon to 4 p.m., and would like to compete in the SnowJacks’ little contest, you will need:

  • $5
  • Snowboard and helmet
  • To sign a waiver
  • A parent (should you be under 18)

There will be prizes for the most shreddingliest among us. This is the shortest snowboard trip you will ever take, Humboldt. Less freezing Saturday events in your Saturday Lowdown below. —Andrew Goff
