FRIDAY LOWDOWN: SNL Alum Forced to Cancel Weekend Blue Lake Casino Performances Due to Flight Problems; 18-Year-Old Guitar Whiz To Shred in Arcata

Jon Lovitz, we hardly knew thee.
Just when you probably could’ve used a laugh, we at the Outpost sadly must inform you that comedian and actor Jon Lovitz will not be performing either Friday or Saturday at Blue Lake Casino as scheduled. Late Thursday, we received an email from the casino that the Saturday Night Live star had to cancel his trip to Humboldt due to “flight issues” — we hear those are going around.
So, no live Lovitz. Womp womp. But! If you’d still like some of his wit and wisdom in your life, we will direct your ears to the audio player below. Earlier this week, when the world was functioning slightly better, Lovitz called into KHUM Radio for an exclusive chat with DJ Toby about the upcoming trip that ended up falling apart. As consolation, you can tune into that now-curious piece of historic audio below.

Moving on: For those of you who were counting on Lovitz-led laughs to enhance your weekend, we invite you to scroll the Lowdown below to help you with your backup plans. One other Friday show we’ll highlight: HumBrews will host some rather extraordinary up-and-coming talent in the form 18-year-old Mendocino County native and guitar virtuoso Bella Rayne. Drawing influence from the Grateful Dead, she’s already shared the stage with Melvin Seals and JGB. We invite you to sample her shredding below:
And wouldn’t you know it, we just so happen to have another radio interview relevant to today to share with y’all. Earlier this week, Rayne gabbed it up with KWPT The Point’s Chuck Rogers about her musical background and her upcoming HumBrews gig. Tune into that chat below and find full details on that show and other joys in your Lowdown listings farther down.
