Classic Rock Controversy Tonight in Arcata
And then there were three.
With the original field of 24 bands whittled down to the crème de la crème, KWPT’s month-long Classic Cover Contest reaches its thrilling conclusion tonight at the Arcata Playhouse. On a night also reserved for celebration of The Point’s birthday, north coast bands Fire Pony, Doug Fir and the 2x4s and The Good Homosapiens will take the stage to determine forevermore (until next year) who is the most classic. There will be blood … and cake.
But wait! There is growing controversy in the offices of Lost Coast Communications — parent company of both The Point and your Lost Coast Outpost. It appears that KWPT has a traitor in its midst. Night Show DJ Andy Powell will not be taking in the rocking covers at the Playhouse. Instead, he will be a few blocks away at Jambalaya — get this! — producing his own classic covers with his comrades in Strix Vega as part of the Neil Young Birthday Bash. Why, Andy? WHY?!?
Thus, LoCO, in its continued attempts to improve your life, is pleased to announce an an exciting job opportunity in our building! Can you name all of David Bowie’s personas from memory? Then you could work with us! Please email your rockin’ resume to KWPT’s DJ Carole Ann at carolemorgal@gmail.com. And we’ll see you all at the Playhouse tonight!
