Tuesday Lowdown: Fortuna Rodeo Week and Humboldt Folklife Festival Roll On, Johnny Taylor Makes Funny
Not bad for some July Tuesday! As your brain may have absorbed, this week is dominated events-wise by the Humboldt Folklife Festival and Fortuna Rodeo Week with this night being no exception. As far as the former is concerned, a handful of local lyricists will gather in Dell’Arte’s intimate Carlo Theatre for the annual Songwriters’ Night. Hosted by Jan Bramlett, ears in attendance will be filled by tunesmiths Jeff Kelley, Tamlyn McDonald and Paul Oliphant. Down in the friendly city, rodeo week organizers will attempt to exhaust your children during the annual Kids’ Games Night in the parking lot of the Redwood Village Shopping Center. Very different breeds of joy, there.
If you hate songs and/or children there will be a collection of wise asses on stage at The Jam for the latest Savage Henry Comedy Night. Sample headliner Johnny Taylor’s particular brand of funny in the YouTube clip below and/or find another way to spend your Tuesday in your Lowdown listings below. —AG
