Lowdown: Good For You, Kate Buchanan Room (VIDEOS)

Wow. Your Humboldt Friday is the first of three straight days of solid booking up in HSU’s Kate Buchanan Room. Associated Students presents the following joy:

  • FRIDAY: Comedy web hub Funny Or Die is craftily attempting to register college students to vote with its nationwide Jokes For Votes Tour. They make a pretty good pitch in that HSU students (and people who know HSU students) get a free show headlined by standup superstar Demetri Martin. Tickets are sold out, but AS says they will likely release more tickets at the box office tonight. If you need to, remind yourself who Martin is in the clip below at left.
  • SATURDAY: Known for their constantly evolving sound and weird and theatrical concerts, Athens, Georgia-born experimental rock favorites Of Montreal are touring in support of their EDM-tinged new album Innocence Reaches. Familiarize yourself with the sound the group is currently peddling in the clip for their latest single “it’s different for girls,” in the middle below.
  • SUNDAY: LoCO had not experienced or heard of San Francisco metal band Deafheaven before we saw they were coming here. YouTube suggests that the KBR is in for an intense show this coming Sabbath. Submit yourself to their assault in the clip below on the far right.

Your full Friday Lowdown listings may be absorbed by those who scroll. —Andrew Goff
