Of all the celebrities to visit Humboldt in recent memory, none seem to have immersed themselves in the local culture quite like that lovable Kirsten Dunst. Whether it was girls’ night at The Shanty or, bwa, that time she walked across the tarmac at ACV (OK, maybe we don’t have as much as we thought, here) K-Dun did it all! (Sorry, let us get through this.)

And what kind of trippy trip behind the Redwood Curtain would it be if you didn’t get baked out your gourd, eh? 

As we know, Dunst is making the media rounds to promote Woodshock, the drugged-out movie she filmed here in Humboldt back in 2015. As such, last night she was gabbin’ it up with lover-of-Humboldt Jimmy Kimmel — witness above — and relayed a tale about smoking what she thought was “movie pot” during filming. After one particular scene Dunst says she felt not quite right and wondered if she might need to go to the hospital. 

“I started to feel like I was losing my mind,” she said. 

One of the film’s producers investigated to see if there had anything unusual about Dunst’s intake and made a not-that-surprising discovery.

“He came back, he’s like, ‘Oh, you smoked a full blunt on one of the takes,” Dunst recounted. “And we’re talking about Humboldt weed, OK? This is… like, I don’t smoke full joints. This is, like, stuh-rong shit!”

Oh no! What had gone wrong? Kimmel wondered.

“Well, they had locals roll the joints for us,” Dunst said. “And they just threw some in for fun!” 

Bad locals. Bad. (Of course, you may have just saved the Humboldt brand.)
