Do You Want to Get on That Pirate-y Looking Ship, HumCo? You Can!
(Photo courtesy of of LoCO friend Joseph Glass)
Eurekans strolling near the bay yesterday had their timbers shivered by the docked presence of a pirate-y looking vessel. The tall ship Lady Washington is in town for its annual visit and will be joined starting on April 15 by its boat friend the Hawaiian Chieftan. Two boats are better, the saying goes, probably.
Now if you’re saying to yourself, “I like the cut of that boat’s jib. Please, let me on it immediately,” or “My kids would go batshit on that thing meaning maybe they would actually sleep later. How can I let them loose on its exhaustion-inducing decks,” well, you’re in luckville. Over the next ten days, Humboldt has the opportunity to get on them boats for Walk-on-Tours (cheap) and several “Adventure Sails” (less cheap). Got your floppy floppies? Here’s the itinerary:
- 4/11: 4-5 p.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation.
- 4/12-13: 10 a.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation.
- 4/12-13: 2-4 p.m., Adventure Sail, $43 all ages.
- 4/15-18: 4-5 p.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation.
- 4/16: 6-8 p.m., Adventure Sail, $33 all ages.
- 4/19-20: 10 a.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation.
- 4/19-20: 2-5 p.m., Battle Sails, $43-$63.
- 4/19: 6-8 p.m., Evening Sail, $43 all ages.
- 4/20: 11 a.m., Adventure Sail, $43 all ages.
For more on the history, specs and mission of the two seafaring crafts, head over to the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority website. Sail on, sailors.
