Lowdown: A ‘Cello Goblin’ in Arcata

Sounds like Ozomatli tore it down last night. We’ve seen a few videos online of the band ending their night in the lobby of the Van Duzer Theatre. Not too shabby. Now, you ready for Wednesday?

If a portion of your job requires you to frequently wade through painful musical artist bios (your band features banjo. Please stop trying to fool us by throwing out every genre that isn’t bluegrass. You are bluegrass) it’s nice when you come across one that playfully actually describes the performer in question. 

For example, after watching the video of Rushad Eggleston below your Lowdown‘s noggin was flooded with colorful adjectives with which to describe the unique performer who plays Wednesday night at HumBrews. But then we checked Eggleston’s Facebook page which describes him as “an imaginative nomadic wild cello goblin, ambassador of sneth, and spreader of joy through melodies, songs, mythical languages and rogue vibrations.” 

That’s pretty good. We’ll go with that. 

Have that description verified below and also tune into Larry Trask‘s radio programme on KHUM 104.3/104.7 at around 4 p.m. for a a pre-show performance and some sophisticated conversation.

While we’re on the subject of radio interviews, also note that comedy megastar and one-time “Garth” Dana Carvey will do a phoner at 9 a.m. with KSLG’s Myles Cochrane in advance of his show at the Van Duzer Theatre tomorrow. We are worthy! You can also win tickets to the show here.
