Tuesday’s Lowdown: Monkey, Joy

Looks like there’s a few distractions available for Humboldt’s Tuesday night Netflix rejecters. Tonight is the second and final staging of Monkey at Dell’Arte. The show is presented as part of the continuing Mad River Festival and is performed in Kyogen style by Osugi Musical Theatre, direct from Japan. LoCO admits to not knowing much about Kyogen, but it is described on Dell’Arte’s website as follows:

Kyogen is 600 year old Japanese comic theatre. Most plays are 20-40 minutes long, feature few actors (2 or 3 in many plays), and rely on voice and gesture to convey the story on a setless stage with very few props.

Great.

Elsewhere, Jambalaya is hosting a bandgasm headlined by San Diego group JoyOn Joy’s Facebook page, they describe their music as “FREAK PSYCHEDELIC HEAVY FOLK BLUES ACID JAMS” and LoCO has no reason to believe that they are lying. Below is some low-quality YouTube evidence to backup their claim.
