Friday’s Lowdown: Comedy, Cannabis, Crabs, Concerts
While there is a little comedy festival in Fortuna and a cannabis communion in Blue Lake, you’ll note that your Humboldt Friday is on the Arcata-heavy side due to the calendar’s demand for another Arts!Arcata. Of course, the Humboldt Crabs will draw a large crowd, then there’s two musical engagements we’ll briefly mention:
- Arcata-born chanteuse Rose Armin-Holland is belting it out in the Bay Area these days for the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. Before she heads to Europe with the group, Armin-Holland returns home for a night of music backed by local musicians at the Arcata Playhouse. The evening — titled “Gotta Have a Song” — will raise funds for her trip abroad.
- Up at The Sanctuary, somewhat jazzy bluegrass purveyors Steep Ravine ply their melodious acoustic craft for gathered ears. Sample their strumming in the clip below.
