Friday Lowdown: Quench Thy Thirst, Humboldt

Well, shucks! Now, LoCO recommends you save some energy for tomorrow but, by golly, it’s a packed Humboldt Friday on this Oyster Fest Eve.

For starters, if you’re somehow not already aware, this is the opening weekend for Dell’Arte’s original theatrical work The Big Thirst, part of this year’s Mad River Festval. The Joan Schirle-penned comic mystery features a cast of Dell’Arte all-stars poking fun at numerous local issues surrounding water. Appropriately, maybe, last night’s debut Rooney Amphitheater performance featured an unscheduled intermission due to rain — the aqua gods will not be mocked! — but LoCO Earth says rain is unlikely this evening. If you need more convincing let Dell’Arte pitch you in The Big Thirst trailer below.

Again, there are no shortage of ways with which to foolishly exhaust yourself the day before Humboldt’s biggest social obligation of the year. Scroll your Lowdown listings below for details on a very special Club Triangle event at The Jam (benefitting families of the victims of the recent shooting in Orlando), a special weekend for The Humboldt Crabs, the opening weekend for The White Snake down Ferndale Repertory Theatre, reggae stars Morgan Heritage out at Blue Lake Casino and a loosely oyster-themed Soul Night at HumBrews. Go forth and Friday.
