The big date has been set! On Nov. 3, 2016, Willits-haters will be liberated from their experience of that town forever.

Or sometime in there, anyway. Though Caltrans District 1 has set Thursday, Nov. 3 as the day of the party — 11 a.m. — there might be an outside chance that you don’t get to blaze through the Little Lake Valley at full speed for a day or two after the champagne is spilled.

“Ideally, the traffic will start flowing later that day,” says District One’s Phil Frisbie. “Depending on the timing it could be a day or two. But we we hope to have traffic on the bypass that afternoon.”

From Caltrans’ Willits Bypass Blog:

Caltrans is pleased to announce the completion ceremony for the Willits Bypass has been scheduled for Thursday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony, which will include dedicating the 1.1 mile long viaduct bridge to fallen U. S. Navy Seal Jesse Pittman, will take place on the new highway, at the north end of the viaduct, near the north interchange.  The public will be invited, and more details will follow.
